In November 2001, my wife Judy and I decided to sell our home
in New Jersey and move overseas with our children for two and one half years
to serve the United States Air Force in England. It was a momentous decision
full of excitment and fraught with terror.
It became the adventure of our lifetime.
I developed 'Yanks in Blighty' while in England to record and share
this adventure with our family back home. It was a journal of
our lives during a uniquely charged period in international affairs. 'Yanks'
wasn't about politics, though; it was about enjoying the gift we'd been given.
There weren't enough words ... and far too many experiences ... to
fit into twenty-four issues. I wrote less for poignancy's sake and let
photos help tell the rest of the tale. All these are now available on
this archive page should you feel the need to revisit to this particular place
and time. I know I will, and often.
That I posted the final issue of 'Yanks' while seated in the peaceful
Abbey Gardens of Bury-St. Edmunds provided a fitting close to my experiment
in transatlantic communication. I cannot express enough gratitude for all your
compliments. 'Yanks' was built with love. I was honored to share it with you.
We are back in America now, yet a part of us will always remember another place called
home. We shall cherish our beautiful adventure in England's green and pleasant land.
