These texts were only a portion of what we used each day. Language Arts and Math books provided simple lessons designed to hone basic skills. Other studies such as History and Science adapted well to a unit approach based on investigation. Our greatest resources for news, ideas, and even lessons was the Internet followed by periodicals we subscribed to and our local libraries. As we went further into certain topics it became necessary to purchase ready-made learning modules geared for that area.

Much of the Sixth Grade seemed to be a repetition of earlier concepts with a goal of greater speed and capability. Most important was the development of critical analysis, problem solving, organizational ability, and effective communication skills. My task as Chris's teacher was to bring out these skills within the context of a chosen subject.
